Funded by: Wallace Foundation

The National Institute on Out-of-School Time (NIOST), working with the National League of Cities, Cross and Joftus, and the John W. Gardner Center at Stanford University, will provide technical assistance to support cities picked by the Wallace Foundation to participate in the Next Generation Afterschool System Building Initiative.  The program is designed to encourage further progress in the development of city wide afterschool systems.

The Wallace Foundation has provided generous funding to NIOST and the other member organizations to provide technical assistance and develop training and facilitation programs in the nine cities (Baltimore, Denver, Fort Worth, Grand Rapids, Jacksonville, Louisville, Nashville, Philadelphia, and St. Paul) chosen by the Foundation. Specifically, NIOST will provide support to the nine chosen cities as they develop, refine and expand work to improve afterschool program quality.
