This paper is a report of the results of a study conducted in 1991, by the Center for Research on Women with Working Mother Magazine, of over 4,000 women, most of whom had returned to work by the time their babies were a year old. The paper provides information on women's experiences with maternity leave, or time off after the birth or adoption of a child, their reasons for returning to work, and their experiences at work after their return.
