This long-term project was designed to assess gender equity educational materials which were created in relation to the development of Title IX.
Women’s Educational Equity Act Review was a long-term project at WCW and was directed by Fields and Erkut. The project provided expert review panels of educational materials developed by WEAA grantees.
Fields and Erkut convened experts in the field of gender equity to assess the materials’ quality and promise as effective gender equity tools. They then conveyed these recommendations to the group making decisions on publishing the materials. Many of the grantees developed materials related to the implementation of Title IX. Others were related to promoting non-traditional career choices for female students, promoting girls’ interest in math and science, and achieving educational equity for girls from diverse racial ethnic and disability groups.
