Young Women and Violence--November 10th in NYC
Second annual NYC luncheon features dynamic speakers

NY09SaveDateThe evidence is everywhere we turn-in our newspapers, on television, in video games, on the Internet, in the lyrics of popular songs, in government reports, and in courtrooms. The incidence of sexual harassment, sexual violence, and exploitation of girls and young women is reaching pandemic proportions. Here. In America. Not "someplace else." Our young people are at risk. Laws, public policy, and education haven't seemed to stem the tide.

Panelists Linda Fairstein, J.D., Jean Kilbourne, Ed.D., Joyce M. Roché, MBA, and Nan Stein, Ed.D., will offer, from their different perspectives, their knowledge of what's working - and not - and will share ideas for intervention and prevention to help girls and young women. Linda Wertheimer will offer remarks.

The luncheon will be held Tuesday, November 10th at The Yale Club of New York; reservations are required. Early registration is underway! Learn more at www.wcwonline.org/nycevent.

Announcing the Launch of WOMEN=BOOKS Blog
Women's Review of Books'
blog goes live

WRB july09If ever there was a time for women to connect, it's now.

WOMEN = BOOKS, the Women's Review of Books (WRB) blog, is creating a new online community. Women's Review of Books has always been about jumping barriers: between feminist academics and political organizers, theory and practice.

Similarly, WOMEN = BOOKS extends the range of WRB's print edition, expands its audience, and deepens the conversation about ideas, politics, and women's lives. WOMEN=BOOKS will include weekly posts from selected reviewers and authors from each issue.
