Newest R&A Report Highlights WCW's Current Work
The spring/summer 2010 issue of Research & Action Report is now available in print and online. Included is a great cover interview, "Healthy Living in Out-of-School Time," featuring Georgia Hall, Ph.D. senior research scientist with the National Institute on Out-of-School Time (NIOST) at the Wellesley Centers for Women (WCW). Hall describes current initiatives underway at NIOST that will inform the field of afterschool on standards and practices that encourage healthy activity and eating for children.
Also featured are a commentary by Jean Hardisty, Ph.D., WCW senior scholar, looking at affordable, quality child care as key to supporting women's success; perspectives from Amy Banks, M.D., director of advanced training at the Jean Baker Miller Training Institute (JBMTI), on web-based learning through JBMTI; a transcript from Rangita de Silva-de Alwis' testimony to the Congressional Executive Commission on China; and other program updates from scholars across the Centers.
