Two researchers, Anthony S. Bryk and Barbara Schneider from the University of Chicago, recently published a book " Trust in Schools: A Core Resource for Improvement " promoting the building of trust between school administrators, teachers, parents, and students as a way to improve school performance. Pamela Seigle, Open Circle Project Director, states:

" With all the emphasis on high-stakes testing, standards, and curriculum, often there is a sense that there isn't time to do this, to build trusting relationships.... What happens if we don't make time for this is that, ultimately, good things don't happen in the classroom ."
