A price for fighting back: teen tired of bullying now may face 5 years in jail

After more than two years of withstanding bullies, a Jonesboro [GA] middle schooler fought back. He was charged with aggravated battery and faces up to five years in jail. In cases like this one, history and context of bullying are not given enough consideration, says Nan Stein, a Wellesley Centers for Women researcher and co-author of the 1996 teaching guide Bullyproof. This is “zero tolerance gone amok.”
