Conference focuses on ‘whiteness’

Addressing the second annual Race and Reconciliation Conference in Buffalo, keynote speaker Peggy McIntosh, a researcher at the Wellesley Centers for Women, notes, "Doors are opened for us whether or not we had to work for it. We think of ourselves as normal. Race is an issue for others, not for us." McIntosh’s mission is to raise awareness among white Americans about how much their race has benefited them.
