Bullies beware: forum by DA tackles problem
The Salem News On May 28, more than 75 teachers from all corners of Essex County [MA] gathered at North Shore Community College to discuss how to protect students against bullying. Nancy Mullin, a research scientist at the Wellesley Centers for Women, is an expert on bullying and how schools can prevent it. Her advice is to address bullying directly in the classroom, and to provide positive adult role models for the students. “Bullying is not a right of passage,” says Mullin. “And it just doesn’t affect those who are victims of the bullying—kids who are bystanders are also impacted when they see bullying over and over.” |
