Teacher’s 10 Rs for Reaching Elders in Class
Aging Today Ruth Harriet Jacobs, a continuing research scholar at the Wellesley Centers for Women, currently instructs at the Brandeis University Adult Learning Institute. From her first-hand experience in the classroom, Jacobs has developed “Dr. Ruth’s 10 Rs for Reaching Elders in Class.” Lifetime-learning programs have become popular at institutions of higher learning and the “10 Rs” aim to develop more effective peer educators. Realize, Recognize, Reward and rejoice, Remember, Respect, Regulate, Return, Reach, Rounds, and Repeat assist teachers in reaching the “seasoned citizens” in class. |
