Cyber cruelty
The Chicago Tribune Alyssa, a victim of cyber bullying, turned to her parents who threatened to call the police which eventually put a stop to the harassment. A boy from school was sending hurtful messages through email and instant messages—tools that enable the bullying to continue long after school has let out. Nancy Mullin, researcher at the Wellesley Centers for Women, says that online harassment isn’t just between the bully and his or her victim; some bullies love an audience and will brag to other kids about their actions. Mullin agrees with Alyssa’s actions, stating that going to parents or the police are the best ways to stop online cruelty. |
