‘Women’s Review of Books’ will fold its covers

The Women’s Review of Books will be suspending publication after the December issue. Increases in printing costs and shrinking library budgets are to blame; it became apparent after looking at the end-of-the-year numbers that the review would be operating in a deficit. Susan Bailey, of the Wellesley Centers for Women says, “A lot of people I talk to are really upset at the news. They tell me, ‘I love The Women’s Review. I used to subscribe to it.” That contradiction is exactly the problem.
