Educators seek bullying solutions
The Gazette (Cedar Rapids) Students, administrators, and teachers gathered in Ames, Iowa, at the Governor’s Conference on Bullying and Harassment—coming together to help put an end to bullying and harassment in schools. Keynote speaker Nan Stein, senior research scientist at the Wellesley Centers for Women, says that she is glad that Iowa is identifying bullying as harassment. “When a state law singles out only bullying, and separates it from harassment, I believe those state laws dilute and undermine the whole framework of civil rights and its protections,” Stein said. |
