Study targets how to cope with bullying
Miami Herald The complexity surrounding the issue of bullying requires a comprehensive approach, and may not be able to be resolved by simply training children to master certain social skills—such as using humor and other neutral responses—as is suggested by a recent study to come out of England. “Certainly, you want to give kids who are being victimized the tools to help them cope and deal more assertively with bullies,” said Nancy Mullin, director of the Project on Teasing and Bullying at the Wellesley Centers for Women. “But one strategy isn’t going to work for all children in all situations.” |
