Networking their way

More women are climbing the corporate ladder and finding traditional male networking spots just aren’t working for them. Networking is an important part of business, but research and experience show men and women tend to network differently—women tend toward establishing connections and men tend to be more direct in their networking approaches. Often excluded from those places frequented by male networking executives, women are taking networking to other venues. Sumru Erkut, associate director and research scientist at the Wellesley Centers for Women, notes that “some of the places people network are at the bars after hours or on the golf course in the afternoon.
