The secret life of boys
The Boston Globe Many young children are exposed to myriad hard-core pornographic websites through unsolicited pop-ups or deliberate searches. While it is normal for adolescents to be curious about sex, many fear that the violent and often degrading images of women will lead to boys disrespecting girls. Cate Dooley, researcher at the Jean Baker Miller Training Institute at the Wellesley Centers for Women, said “The bottom line is, it’s moving away from emotional intimacy, and that’s dangerous ground. Boys don’t learn how sex comes out of friendship and emotionally intimate relationships. Boys and girls are losing that in our culture, and I think it’s a crisis.” Read more |
