Girl getaways
The Arizona Republic Whether getting together for a camping trip, a day at the spa, or a scheduled event in the city, women have “girls’ nights” both for the fun and for the therapeutic aspect of such gatherings. Jean Baker Miller, director of the Jean Baker Miller Training Institute at the Wellesley Centers for Women, suggests that girlfriends help to promote a sense of well-being and self-worth. Girlfriends can also teach us about our capacity for caring. “Women often suffer from not having anyone who really is attuned to what they are experiencing,” she said. “Husbands, boyfriends, partners may mean a great deal, but there’s something about having someone who really understands you.” Read more |
