Parents suffer, too, when a child is teased
Boston Globe In response to a reader’s question regarding her son’s recent loss of interest in school as the result of being the victim of teasing and bullying, this advice column suggests that a good first step is talking to teachers and the school principal about the situation. It is also a good idea to ask what preventative measures are being taken at the school. Many local elementary schools are implementing the Open Circle Social Competency Program, developed at the Wellesley Centers for Women, which teaches children how to deal with myriad behaviors, including bullying and teasing, through role-play and discussion.
