A satirical blog listing the habits and preferences of middle-class white people, called Stuff Hite People Like, has quickly become an internet hit. Created by Christian Lander, a white Canadian, the blog has received more than 16 million hits since Lander started it this past January. Peggy McIntosh, associate director of the Wellesley Centers for Women, believes the blog is so popluar because it presents a new way of looking at race and privilege. McIntosh states, "When I was growing up, other people had race and we were normal...it's quite new for people to say 'Let's study whiteness.' That's what [Lander's} doing, in a flippant and frivolous way." She adds, "You take away the theme of blame, shame, and guilt, and focus on habits. This is about cultural habits."
