Lunchtime Seminar: Bringing Yourself to Work: Increasing Self Awareness for Out-of-School Time Providers

November 1, 2007

Wellesley, MA-Patricia Jahoda Stahl, Ed.M., research scientist with the Wellesley Centers for Women, will deliver the Fall 2007 Grace K. Baruch Memorial Lecture, Bringing Yourself to Work: Increasing Self Awareness for Out-of-School Time Providers.

The most significant characteristic of a good after-school program is the quality of relationships between care providers and the children in their charge. How do those relationships truly flourish? How do we become aware that we construct these relationships through the lens of our own experience and identity? The Bringing Yourself to Work training model highlights the importance of self awareness and emotional intelligence as the key ingredients for building optimum social emotional environments for children. In this seminar, participants will be introduced to the Bringing Yourself to Work (BYTW) Training Model through theory and experiential learning, and will have the opportunity to see how BYTW is applied on a daily basis.

Lunchtime Seminar Series programs are free and open to the public. Held Thursdays from 12:30 to 1:30 in the Cheever House Library, the seminars highlight the work of Wellesley Centers for Women researchers and program staff. For more information, call 781.283.2500 or visit www.wcwonline.org.
