New WBL Foundation Survey Shows Robust Pool of Women Available for Corporate Board Service

Although studies by Catalyst and the Critical Mass Project at Wellesley Centers for Women show that having three or more women on a corporate board improves boardroom dynamics and brings returns on investment, most boards seat few or no women. In its effort to remedy this, the Women Business Leaders (WBL) of the U.S. Health Industry Foundation released a study on March 4, 2008, detailing the extent of male dominance on boards and possible explanations, such as exclusion of women from informal networks and lack of mentorship for women.
