On the sixteenth anniversary of her controversial testimony at Justice Clarence Thomas’s confirmation hearing, Anita Hill reflects on changes in society and the treatment of women in the workplace. Inundated by letters, hand-passed notes, and emails since 1991, Hill has used them to reflect on the continuing divide between public discourse and private perceptions and experiences. While many of these messages indicate personal empowerment and positive change, Hill is still uncertain of the extent of women’s progress. She does not, however, regret her testimony.
