Most recent work on boys has tended to present theories based on the experiences of middle-class white boys. Yet boys from poor and working-class families as well as those from African American, Latino, and Asian American backgrounds represent an increasingly large proportion of adolscent boys. Adolescent Boys, published by New York University Press, brings together some of the most current empirical research focused on understanding boys' lives from and in diverse contexts. The volume is distinctive in its inclusion of key studies of ethnic minority and low-income adolescent boys, and in its focus on understanding boys' experiences from their own perspectives. It will help professionals and parents move beyond stereotypical representations of boys that can hinder boys' emontional growth and constraing their social relationships.
