Message from the Associate Directors*Since our founding as the Center for Research on Women in 1974, the Wellesley Centers for Women (WCW) has undertaken timely, informative research and action initiatives that put women’s perspectives at the center of inquiry. Our feminist perspectives place gender, race, and social class in many contexts—the changing economy, variations in American families and global developments. Our work addresses a wide range of issues —from child care and education to gender violence and human rights; from workforce leadership and economic status to psychological well-being and issues of race and class identity. For more than 35 years we have built a strong foundation of relevant, transformative research, and theory out of which have grown innovative education and training programs. Our individual projects and expert scholars continue to inform one another and reflect the integral pieces of women’s complex lives. As we seek a new director for the Centers, this time of transition allows us to reflect on our mission and priorities. It is clear that our feminist work remains needed and valued. We are grateful for the strong foundation built over the past decades and sustained by so many supporters. It ensures our continued pursuit of justice and equity for all.
