Layli Maparyan tapped to lead Wellesley Centers for Women

The Boston Globe wrote an article about the Wellesley Centers for Women’s new Executive Director, Layli Maparyan. Maparyan has taught women’s studies at Georgia State University for the past 12 years. She also works directly on social issues, and has written two books on womanism.

Sylvia Ferrel-Jones, a member of the Centers’ board of overseers and search committee, and president of YWCA Boston, said in the article that “Layli has the perfect combination of rigorous scholarship and action in her background and interests.” She also said that Maparyan “exhibits deep curiosity and makes connections with people quickly.”
