The Privilege That Dares Not Speak Its Name?

Following the dismissal of the sexual assault case against Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the issue of power and privilege must be examined as a factor in understanding why Strauss-Kahn was considered more believable than his accuser. Citing the work on unearned privilege by Peggy McIntosh, associate director of the Wellesley Centers for Women, the authors believe that it is time to start paying attention to the power differential created by white and male privilege in this case.
