The Missing X Factor on Corporate Boards

Though women in the U.S. hold more than 50% of all managerial and professional positions, they command only about 15% of the board seats at Fortune 500 companies. Several studies suggest that adding women to corporate boards would enhance those corporations' performance, including the Wellesley Centers for Women's Critical Mass Project. The Critical Mass Project research indicates that including three or more women on boards is key to diversifying and broadening boards' discussions to include concerns of a wider set of stakeholders.
